West Central
The below scheme for the West Central site has been replaced with Lumiere.
This proposal is for a 40 storey complex of luxury flats and a casino.
The development venture, which includes partners Sterling Capitol, Scarborough and Bank of Scotland, is talking to the council about amending an existing planning application to develop the 40-storey tower on the second phase of its £120m West Central development, which is on the former main post office site in Wellington Street.
Reports are that Sterling hope to submit a detailed planning application as soon as possible and aim to be on the site as early as 2005.
Hopes are high that this scheme will be approved given the councils recent enthusiasm for tall buildings. The architect for the proposed tower is Carey Jones.
