Burj Dubai
Although the final height has not been officially published, it is certain that the Burj Dubai will be the tallest building in the world by a significant margin. It is anticipated that this mammoth skyscraper will be around 800m tall and will contain a staggering 160 floors. To put this into perspective Taipei 101 stands at just over 500 metres and contains 101 floors.

Born on the back of Dubai's massive skyscraper boom it is part of an overall vision to move Dubai away from a trade based economy to one based on tourism and services.

The Burj Dubai's design is reminiscent of Islamic architecture and the buildings triple lobed footprint is symbolic of the Hymenocallis flower which is native to the deserts of the region.

The building will once again make the Middle East the home to the worlds tallest structure, a title held for thousands of years with the Pyramids.
